Florentine Pizza In Two Different Versions
Here are two versions of egg based pizzas, which are great ways to get your child to eat healthy and in a form that they love.
Florentine pizzas
This is a wonderful pizza recipe for home makers, which is not difficult, but combines healthy ingredients including poached eggs on top, making them great to serve to fussy kids who do not like runny poaches on their plates in the morning.
Ingredients to use
- Pizza base of 30 cm or 12 inches
- Tomato sauce or tomato preserves with chili flavor, 6 tbsp.
- Washed spinach, 175 gm
- 290 gm mushrooms
- 50 gm Parmesan cheese
- 4 eggs, medium
How to make?
Start by preheating the oven. Meanwhile, prepare the pizza bases that you have purchased. Place them on a baking sheet and start by spreading the sauce. The spinach should be cooked before using them on the pizza. Place them in a bowl which is microwavable. Cover with cling film and microwave on high heat for about two minutes. Drain the spinach and spread out on the pizza base. Take out the mushrooms and dice them. Add them over the top of the spinach. Add in seasoning like salt and pepper. Put in the pizza pieces and bake for about ten minutes. After you have baked initially, crack an egg on top of each pizza base. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for about six or eight minutes. This will set the eggs and get your Florentine pizzas ready.
Dairy free version of Florentine pizzas
For those who have any dairy allergies or children who have problems with dairy products, they might need to be served something else. However, it is possible to make the above pizza recipe in a slightly different way. This will make it palatable for those who have gluten based allergies.
Ingredients to use
- 2 tbsp. of olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 400 gms of canned and chopped tomatoes
- 400 gm of frozen spinach
- Toppings of choice like grilled peppers, artichoke hearts, pepperoni, olives, capers or anchovies
- 2 eggs, medium size
- Basil leaves, small handful
- Handful of rocket leaves
- Lemon, juice of half a lemon
Ingredients for pizza base
- 350 gm white flour
- 7 gm dried yeast
- Semolina, 1 tbsp
How to make?
When you wish to make the base, add in the flour in a bowl along with yeast and salt. Mix in a food processor that has a dough attachment blade. To make the dough you can add in lukewarm water till a sticky dough is formed. Cover the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with a cloth, leaving it in a warm place. Heat oil in a frying pan and sauté the garlic pieces in it. Add in the chopped tomatoes and seasonings. Sauté till the mixture thickens. Meanwhile, heat the oven and keep it ready. Knead the dough and then roll out in pizza base forms with semolina dusted on them. Once the pizza bases are rolled add to the tomato sauce along with olive oil drizzled on top.
